Before each one of us were born God had already preordained us. It was our father in heaven that had predestined us to be what He wanted us to be. No one in this world can take away the identity God has given us. We all grow up in different homes and different environments. Therefore, our upbringing is different. Some of us may have been brought up in the congregation amongst believers of Christ. Some of us may have even erred away from the faith at one point in our lives. Thanks be to God that now we are found in the good graces of God. This one thing we must do, and that is to know who we are. Do you know who you are?
You may know your occupation, your title, your gifts, and talents but what is your identity in Christ? Do you take the time daily to pray in the Holy Spirit? Growing up I knew about God and His Son and the Holy Spirit. It took me a while to realize who I was and daily I am learning more and more. It is a process that I don’t take for granted. Therefore, it is important that we stay continually in the word of God studying so we will come to the full knowledge of who we are. 1 Peter 1:18-19 tells us that we are redeemed with the precious blood of Christ. As a redeemed of God, we are as lively stones that builds up into a spiritual house, a holy priesthood. All that we do as a child of God is supposed to be acceptable to Him.
Knowing who we are allows us to walk in freedom because we do not answer to who the world says we are, but who God says we are. We stand sure knowing that we are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people that we should show forth the praise of Him that called us out of darkness and into His marvelous light. Since we are holy, we are therefore set apart from the world. According to Galatians 5:19-21, we are to keep ourselves pure from fleshly desires such as hatred, idolatry, fornication, adultery, sorcery, jealously, envy, drunkenness, and discord. To know who you are in Christ is very powerful. You are able to embrace your kingdom authority and no lie that the enemy whisper in your ears will be able to detour you. Knowing who you are gives you confidence and increases your self-esteem. God created you and I with purpose in mind. As you go about your day proclaim that you are fearfully and wonderfully made, and God will perfect everything that concerns you.
