We Have a Race to Run

We don’t win or finish a race because we are fast. We win because we kept going. We finish because we stayed the course and didn’t give up. There have been many times in my life when I could have given up. Instead of giving up I chose to keep going. No matter the difficulty in your life, whether sickness, loss of a loved one, loss of job, or whatever your situation may be just know that you can, and you must go on.

The word of God tells us that in the world we will have tribulations. Christ urges us to be of good cheer because He have overcome the world. That is some good news. That gives you and I hope in knowing that Christ have overcome and so can we. We can go through the fire and not be burned. We can go through the fire and not lose our minds.

There is a race that only you can run. No one can run it for you. No one has the grace to do what God have enabled you to do. Some days of the race will be sunny and somedays will be pouring rain. When either day will come and for how long they we stay, we do not know. However, we can be assured of this one thing that God is there every step of the way.

So, tie your shoes up tight and get to moving. There is a direction that we must be headed in for success and that direction is forward. No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is ever fit for the kingdom of God. (Luke 9:62) There is much work to be done and we can get it done by staying focused on our God and not our temporary storms. I’ve had to learn and even now remind myself that I have purpose. There is a reason you and I were placed here on this Earth.

Whether or not we make the most of the time we are given and submit to the plan that God has for our lives is up to us. When we surrender to God’s will we won’t have to fight against the wind. We will have peace in doing what we were sent here to do. If you don’t know why you are here, ask God and He will show you.  I am reminded of a gospel song that says, don’t let Him catch you with your work undone. We can’t afford to be found asleep on God. He has been too good to us for us to neglect what we were called to do. Be encouraged my brother and my sister to stay in the race. Then we can testify like Paul and say, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.
